Hello Everyone, Today i will be going over how i decorated my red and white christmas tree.

Let’s be honest 2020 has been ROUGH!! I chose a red and white color scheme because I really wanted it to feel like it was Christmas. Plus, my house is quite modern and white matched my home and red brightened it up.

How I Chose My Christmas Tree

I’ll be honest with you guys, when it comes to picking out a Christmas tree I always have the worst luck. Kind of unfortunate. The reason why is that every time I have bought a tree either I lost/broke the remote that changed the colors of the tree. Or simply the lights stopped working or not all of them turned on.

When I set up my Christmas tree this year I quickly found out that all of the lights were burned out. The thing is I really loved the shape of the tree and, to be honest, I didn’t want to pay full price for a new Christmas tree. Especially considering I have only had this one for two years.

To fix my issue I decided to flock my tree and add lights to it. I added a total of about 600 string lights and 300 bulb lights. By flocking the tree it hid some of the old lights on the tree. I did not want the string lights I added not to show. So I decided once I had fully wrapped the tree in lights I would lightly go in with some snow spray. This hid the wires.

Once I had solved the lighting situation of my tree it was time to decorate. (the BEST part)

How to Add Ribbon and Flowers to Your Christmas Tree

To start I added some mesh ribbon that had faux snow on it. I styled it to be diagonal to the tree. I creased it roughly every 12-16” and fluffed it up. To get the ribbon to shape the way I wanted I tried to hook them onto the branches.

Next, on every crease that I had made on all three of the diagonal ribbons, I added some flowers. These flowers were poinsettias. I paired some with some white poinsettias as well and some by themselves. I alternated it so it would look cohesive. These flowers and ribbon I purchased from the Shinoda design center.

Then, I added some white picks throughout the tree as well as some cranberry picks.

Once that step was completed I need to decorate the top of the tree before I added ornaments

Christmas Tree Top Decor

You want to make sure you decorate the top of the tree before you place ornaments. This is because if you add the picks after the ornaments the tree could shake and the ornaments can fall and break.

Decorating the top of a Christmas tree can vary in style. I decided to go with some picks. I used these beautiful red leaf picks and placed them on top. I also tied it all in with some white beaded picks. As well as some more large white picks. These picks are all from Shinoda Design Center.

Ornament Decor

Finally the ornaments can be placed on the tree. My method is to place all of each style of ornaments at a time so you can easily see and space out the ornaments.

Most of the ornaments I have are from Hobby Lobby, Shinoda design Center, and Home Goods.

Homegoods tends to have some beautiful ornaments  that are usually made from poland. These ornaments are quite difficult to get online. That is part of the reason I LOVE HomeGoods. Plus the prices are UNBEATABLE!!

The final touch to your ornaments is to add ornaments spinners This adds a beautiful look to your christmas tree and ties the whole thing together. I left this for my last step because the hook on the spinner is quite small so some ornaments can fall and break if you place these ones on first.

Christmas Tree Skirt

Lastly, I added TWO skirts instead of one. I bought one about 54 inches and the other is around 42 inches. I layered them to give it a fuller look and to make it look like the red skirt had a trim!!
