Hello Everyone, welcome back to our blog! We are now in the middle of October. In order to make christmas decorating easy and less hectic, we have to start preparing early.

I love to start getting ready for Christmas by getting some simple DIYs done in my free time. In today’s post, we will be creating a DIY beautiful Christmas lantern.

Christmas lanterns can be quite expensive to purchase. Specifically, the ones that are pre-decorated. So instead of emptying our wallet for a beautiful lantern why not purchase a lantern that you can decorate.

How to Decorate the Bottom of the Christmas Lantern

I start by placing cotton that resembles snow on the bottom. Mine has a hole in which there used to be a candle. That’s fine we just cover it with the fake snow.

Lastly, on top of cotton snow, I place some faux snowflakes to fluff it up. One important thing that I wanted for this Christmas lantern, was for it to look like a winter wonderland. This is why I also added the different types of fake snow to add more texture. This way it makes it look as real as possible

Styling the Inside of the Lantern

Next, I need to style the Christmas lantern. I start thinking of ways to decorate it. Since it is such a large lantern I needed something to fill the inside and be large enough to show.

I decided to go with these Christmas trees. I bought them in three different sizes to give them a tiered look.

Once I placed them next to each other I added a little bit more of the cotton snow to cover the base of the trees.

Styling The Walls

Moreover, to make the walls look like it was snowing I used a snow spray and sprayed the inside and outside of the glass walls.

Next, after spraying snow on the glass, clean up the surroundings. This way you can leave the snow only on the glass and clean up the steel.

How To Decorate The Top Of The Christmas Lantern

No Christmas lantern is complete without a beautiful top. You can add flowers, leaves, etc. The look I’m going for has some cranberries and leaves and a bow.

Start by adding Christmas picks that have leaves and small cranberries. I tied them through the opening where the handle is.

Next, to complete the look in the middle I added a bow I made. I secured the bow using a wire. To cover the knot in the middle of the bow I add a cranberry pick. I cut off the stem and glued it to the center of the bow.

Lastly, all you have to do is tie it in the center of the top handle of the lantern.

You now have a beautiful and completed look. Customizing a Christmas lantern is so much better than just purchasing one. This is because you can add your favorite ribbon, Christmas picks, etc. It’s also more budget-friendly, especially for such a large lantern.

I made two of these lanterns and placed them on the speakers I had at home. This way they were elevated and people would be able to see the inside of the lantern.

Overall, this is a must-have for Christmas. You can place it on your porch, inside, etc.
