Many people celebrate Christmas by having Christmas day lunch or dinner or even Christmas eve dinner. My family always has Christmas Eve dinner with friends and family. This means that I have to decorate my dining table and get my whole home looking festive!

The dining room is open to the living room so I needed to keep with the white and red color scheme. My table is quite modern with a glass top and a metal base. I wanted a simple look and yet affordable as well.

Table Runner & Garland

To start I placed a beautiful white furry table runner. I chose this runner because it matched a couple of things I had placed throughout my home.

Next, I really wanted a garland on top of the runner. The only issue was the thick garland didn’t really work for me because I wanted to place candle holders in the middle. So, I bought a thinner garland. At a length of 6 feet and placed one towards the front of the runner and one towards the back. I purchased this garland that came already in a set of 2 from Bed Bath and Beyond.

To finish the garland off I decided to spray some faux snow on it to match the theme of my home. (* make sure to open up the branches to make the garland look more full before you spray the faux snow).

Next, I added lights to the garland. The garland already had lights but it needed a plug and I didn’t want a wire to show. I decided to wrap the garland with battery operated string light.

Lastly, I added some beautiful Christmas picks to bring in the touch of red onto the garland. I placed these red pears and apple picks from Michaels. I added 4 of them to the garland. I then placed more flocked pine picks from The Shinoda Design Center to add more fullness to the garland. That was basically all I added to the garland. I really didn’t want too much, I just wanted it to be simple.

After wrapping the lights, I placed the glass candle holder in the middle of the garlands and towards the ends of the table. I placed red candlesticks to match the red theme. I then bought these white ceramic trees from Bed Bath and Beyond and placed them in the center of the garland. I then added some beautiful acrylic reindeers that really completely changed up the look of the garland and made it look more modern and elegant.

Plate Setting

Next all that was left was to place the plates. I started off by purchasing these beautiful napkins and placemat from HomeGoods. They are from Nicole Miller Home. On top of the placemat, I placed white plates to offset the red. I then took the napkin and placed this beautiful napkin holder that was in the shape of a snowflake. I then simply placed the utensils on the side and the dining table decor was complete.

The look came out beautiful and I love how simple it was to do and that it’s completely customizable to anyone’s liking. By simply adding more picks you can make it look just like the theme of your home.

We have many different decor ideas. If you would like to know how to replicate the tree in the background I will place a link below!
