Porcelain tile has a lot of benefits. It’s clean durable, and come in thousands of patterns and designs.

Benefits

Porcelain tile is made of clay, minerals, sand, and water. Due to it being made under extremely high temperatures and a lot of pressure it results in a more dense product. Since porcelain tile is denser, it has a lower absorption rate. This means that if there is any type of spillage it takes a lot longer for it to absorb the moisture. Due to its really low absorption rate, stains are less likely to occur. This is great because you won’t have to worry about cleaning up spilling something with the fear that it will stain.

It is also pretty scratch resistant, whereas ceramic tile tends to scratch up a little bit more. Its more scratch resistant because of the material its made of and how dense the material is. This is great because sometimes moving furniture around such as chairs can sometimes scratch the surface but with porcelain tile this does not occur.

Its also fade resistant. This is really great because you are able to use it for outdoor projects such as outdoor kitchens, pool decks, outdoor showers, etc. This is because when porcelain is made it is already exposed to high heat, so when using it for outdoor products there is basically no effect in the color-changing over time.

Low maintenance is also a great benefit of porcelain tile. This is because it works better with harsher cleaning products and you can also simply clean it with some water and floor cleaner or detergent.

Overall, This product is great, personally, in my house, we have used this for our house and our outdoor bathroom. This is because it is a very durable material and can last a long time without getting damaged. It also comes in a variety of colors and patterns to match the design and look for your home.

Cons

The cons list is pretty short. This is because due to this material being very durable it doesn’t require much maintenance.

One set back is grout. The grout connecting the tiles can sometimes be a pain to clean. I have found deep cleaning for your grout is not really needed until about 4-6 months. One hack I have learned from my sister is that you can use the Lysol toilet bowl cleaner and if leave it on the grout for a couple of minutes all the dirt will come out without really requiring a lot of elbow grease. So overall although you have to clean your grout there are many ways to make grout cleaning easy and fast.

Moreover, sometimes porcelain can be considered pricey. Although porcelain is a bit more expensive than ceramic, there really is a reason to spend the extra money. This is because, in the long run, the porcelain tile will end up costing the same or even less because you don’t have to worry about replacing your flooring for a lot longer than with ceramic. Its also proven that porcelain tile can improve the price of your house. So that should always be taken into consideration because it is a form of investment in your home. Also, the price is also dependent on the style and pattern you are choosing.

Repairs

Repairs for porcelain tile is actually quite easy. If you purchase porcelain tile make sure to order an extra 2-3 boxes in case a piece cracks from something falling on it. Purchasing a couple extra boxes is a must, just in case that style is discontinued overtime. Its also important because sometimes the batch you bought might have a little bit of a different shade if you purchase them from another batch. Although its the same look there sometimes is a variation in color from each batch.
